Caps Prospect Janis Moser

When the Capitals selected Moser 101st overall in this past draft they knew they were grabbing a guy who’s upside might not be the highest, hell he could even not even sniff the show. But the Capitals trusted all the scouting reports that said “this kid is close to being NHL ready”. At this moment in time the scouting reports appear to be bang on.

In 18 AHL games Moser managed to put up 5 goals and 7 assists, for a 21 year old d-man playing pro hockey in North America for the first time these totals are pretty good. Then Moser got called up to the NHL. While he won’t keep this pace up (99.9% likely he won’t) he has put up 2 goals and 1 assist in 5 games and has looked pretty good. He will likely play for the CDNHL Capitals next season once he is rated, because, well lets face it the CDNHL Caps aren’t crawling with well rated d-men right now. Moser will join other rookies such as Podkolzin and Sillinger, as rookies for next years squad. With Taylor Hall stringing together some points and Texier finally unlocking some of his offensive potential, Moser should have all the opportunity in the world to put up decent point totals.
