The Capitals were completely annihilated in the first round by the Ottawa Senators. With some key Caps leaving for ufa and some other key Capital players having less than ideal ratings it appears it is the day the Capitals must start rebuilding. The mighty Caps fell from last years glorious run to the finals to being one of the most inconsistent teams in the league this year. The inability to acquire any players that could help star player Tyler Seguin was the main reason identified by GM MacPherson that the Capitals couldn’t pull it together. “At the end of the day Seguin was great for us, leading the offence all year with not a lot of help, come playoff time against a strong team like the Senators though you can’t depend on just one guy, you need several, unfortunately no one else stepped up to plate”.

What next for the Caps? Rumor has it star Tyler Seguin is soon on his way out for some younger talent that the Capitals hope will help them in their rebuilding process. The process will likely take a bit as the Capitals prospect and pick cupboard is pretty bare, however the Capitals aren’t a team that will spend the next 8 years rebuilding. The Caps hope that in 3 years they can become prominent again and be a force in the east once again.
