The trade deadline came and went on Thursday, but the Anaheim Ducks made a pair of minor moves leading up to it.  There were a couple teams asking to make bigger trades, but the Ducks play of late, including a 14-3-2 run over their last 19 games, led to the team keeping pretty much everything intact.

The first deal saw Anaheim move Jason Dickenson to Nashville for a 4th round pick.  It was what the Ducks paid to acquire Jason last summer, but after a disappointing season in the NHL where he hasn’t developed as expected despite a hefty new contract, the Ducks decided to move on.

With that trade, it saw Cal Clutterbuck take Dickenson’s place on the fourth line, scoring a goal in his second game from being recalled.  After the salary bump, Damon Severson was also recalled, bolstering the blueline as well, replacing Nik Jensen.  These players have given the Ducks a boost from within.

Just moments before the deadline, Anaheim shipped Artem Anisimov to the Toronto Maple Leafs for $500,000.  Anisimov is in the final year of a $2.5 million contract and wasn’t going to play in Anaheim, so they picked up something for him.  After registering 25 goals and 56 points for Anaheim in 2017-2018, the Ducks re-signed Artem to a four year deal, however he only played 1 game for the team during that contract.  He spent the rest in the AHL.
