The upstart Blue Jackets will host the 3 time defending Western Conference champion Calgary Flames on Thursday at Nationwide Arena. At stake is the Western Conference lead and a tone setter for what should be a season long dogfight between these 2 and traditional powerhouse Chicago (Sorry Vancouver :()

The Flames have started strong despite early struggles from Steven Stamkos, who broke out Wednesday night for 2 ginos and 4 apples. “It was nice just not to be a minus” Stamkos said sheepishly. “That’s why they pay me 13 million right?” Haha very funny Steven – No they pay you 13 million because of one jerk gm (cough cough Lorusso cough). But I digress. The Flames depth up front is showing well, leading the CDNHL in goals despite not one player having more than 4 goals.

The Blue Jackets are rising to the top the other way – with defence and goaltending. They have allowed a mere 18 goals against in 9 games. Keri Lehtonen is sporting a 6-2-1 record with a sparkling 1.97 GAA. Jamie Benn and Mike Richards have led the way offensively with Corey Perry stuck in neutral. “Struggling? No I don’t feel like I’m struggling. I lead the league in PIM. That’s pretty cool in my books”. Uh OK Corey – keep up the good work ya douche.

Can the Powerhouse Offence of the Flames solve Keri Lehtonen and stay atop the West? Tune into tomorrow night to find out!

Oh, and remember, GO FLAMES GO! (Habs Blow)
